Helps adults and adolescents 16 and older who are experiencing PTSD, anxiety, depression, complex trauma, ADHD, compulsive behaviors, life transitions, BIPOC experiences, and identity development. Approaches: TF-CBT and Brainspotting technique.

Bernice has called the Alutiiq and Dena’ina lands her home for over 30 years. Born in Puerto Rico, her family moved to Alaska in 1990 after her father was stationed in Kodiak via the United States Coast Guard. Bernice is licensed as a professional counselor (LPC) and is currently working towards her doctorate in Clinical-Community Psychology with a rural and Indigenous emphasis at UAA. She has experience supporting individuals and groups with a range of problems of living that include PTSD, anxiety, depression, complex trauma, life transitions, and identity development. 

Bernice interweaves evidence- and practice-based interventions that emphasize the impact of systems and interpersonal relationships on mental health and wellbeing. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in psychodynamic, relational-cultural theory, and liberation psychology. She’s currently trained in Brainspotting (Level 2), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to support healing and growth.
